GE Turbine Control System Support — expert service for Speedtronic MKV, MKVe, MKVI, and MKVIe control platforms.
Handsmith is a specialized service provider focused exclusively on GE turbine control systems. We bring deep hands-on expertise to some of the most complex and mission-critical power generation equipment in the industry.
Our team supports operators and plant engineers who rely on Speedtronic control platforms to keep their turbines running safely and efficiently. From diagnostics and troubleshooting to full system upgrades, we deliver reliable solutions with minimal downtime.
We understand that every hour offline has a cost. That's why we respond with urgency, precision, and the technical knowledge to get systems back online fast.
We typically resolve controls-related issues faster than the time it takes to source an engineer and mobilize them to your site. Send us your GE MKVI or MKVIe unit file and we'll analyze the possible issues on a similar platform and help you restart your unit in real time.
Request a ConsultationFull support for the GE Speedtronic MKV control system — including I/O module diagnostics, TCCA/TCDA board servicing, software parameter review, and fault analysis.
Expert service for the MKVe enhanced platform including HMI interface support, network communications troubleshooting, and control sequence optimization.
Comprehensive MKVI support covering VCMI, VTUR, VSVO cards, redundancy management, toolbox configuration, and system upgrades from legacy platforms.
Advanced support for the MKVIe platform — the latest generation GE control system — including Industrial Ethernet integration, EtherNet/IP, and cybersecurity hardening.
Expert Dry Low NOx combustion tuning services to optimize emissions performance, stability, and efficiency. We support a full range of GE DLN combustion systems to keep your turbine compliant and running at peak combustion health. Tuning can also be completed remotely as a convenient option.
Handsmith provides Speedtronic control system support and certified DLN combustion tuning across the full range of GE industrial gas turbine frame sizes — covering both 50Hz and 60Hz configurations for power generation and mechanical drive applications worldwide. Also supporting Nuovo Pignone gas turbines for compressor drive applications.
CombustIQ_Advisor is a Handsmith-developed licensed Windows desktop application designed to support combustion engineers and turbine operators in diagnosing and optimizing GE DLN combustion system performance. It is GE Frame specific and natively accepts OPC UA and EGD data streams — requiring no unit downtime to install. Leveraging deep field expertise, CombustIQ_Advisor provides actionable tuning guidance to reduce emissions, improve flame stability, and extend hardware life.
The BellMouth Inlet Debris Detection System (BIDDS) is a Handsmith proprietary solution that uses a FLIR Lepton 2.5 thermal imaging camera combined with unique custom firmware to continuously monitor a gas turbine inlet bellmouth for foreign object and debris threats. BIDDS is capable of detecting ice formation, oil contamination, and paper or fibrous material ingestion — protecting compressor blades and preventing costly FOD events before they occur.
The CombustIQ_ER (Effective Ratio) is a Handsmith-developed application that automatically tunes the unit — adjusting fuel splits to achieve the optimum effective ratio with minimal combustion dynamics. The application runs on a separate standalone processor connected to the Unit Data Highway (UDH), natively accepting OPC UA and EGD data streams. Built from years of empirical field tuning experience across GE DLN 1.0, 2.0, 2.0+, and 2.6 combustion systems combined with AI, it provides a structured, frame-specific tuning algorithm to mitigate emissions excursions and dynamics.
The CombustIQ_CE (Compressor Efficiency) is a Handsmith-developed licensed Windows desktop application that calculates real-time isentropic compressor efficiency for GE gas turbines. Using live inputs of ambient temperature (Tamb), inlet pressure (AFPAP/96AP), compressor discharge temperature (CTDA1), and compressor discharge pressure (CPD/96CD), it computes the pressure ratio, ideal isentropic work, actual work, and overall compressor efficiency — providing instant visual feedback on compressor health. Deployed as a standalone Windows desktop app with no unit downtime required to install, it is GE Frame specific and natively accepts OPC UA and EGD data streams.
If you would like site-specific technology training, it is offered after discussing your needs. We can train your staff, at your site, on your equipment — and resolve real or suspected issues while teaching only that which is important to restoring and troubleshooting your system in the most efficient manner.
No generic classroom theory. No unnecessary content. Just focused, hands-on instruction tailored to your turbine, your control system, and your team's exact knowledge gaps — delivered by engineers who have worked the same equipment.
